Abstract

The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of various acidulated carbonate beverages on crown and root substitutes.
117teeth without dental caries, extracted in order to orthodontic treatments were selected, and devided into one, three, seven weeks experimental groups. And the 13 acidulated carbonate beverages were taken randomly for this experiments.
All the samples immersed in beverages maintained one, three, seven weeks by 37.5C is incubate respectively.
The samples were taken in appropriate volumes, dehydrated in oven, coated in vacuumedion coater and examined and scs :ining electron microscope.
Attained results as follow:
1. In all experimental groups, enamel erosion appeared, and the amounts of erosion depend upon the pH value of the beverages.
2. In all experimental groups, the severity of tooth substitutes erosion were increased according to the time goes on.
3. In all experimental groups, cementum layer was worn out by erosion, and abnormal or obliterated dentinal tubules appeared due to erosion of intertubular and peritubular dentin.
4. It is impossible to confirm the actual site of primary erosion sign in enamel in experimental groups.
